Gwamba set for album launch

Hip hop artist Gwamba, real name Duncan Zgambo, takes to the stage Saturday to launch his new album True Independence at Blantyre Sports Club.

The rapper, who is also known as Landlord in the music circles, has promised to give out the best shot during the launch.

“I cannot wait to get on stage, it has been a long wait for this launch but God’s time is always the best and this is the time. Everything is ready and I am praying for the best,” he said.

Ahead of the launch, the artist committed to sell 50 CDs of his new album with the proceeds to be donated to Pashello Charitable Trust in Chikwawa.

The artist sold the 50 CDs raising K3.4 million which he handed over to Pashello Charitable Trust yesterday.

Gwamba disclosed that South African acts Emtee and Lolli Native will jet into the country today.

“Upon their arrival, we will go to Chemusa and then Limbe market to do some shopping before going to the hotel,” the rapper said.

Gwamba has also been visiting townships ahead of the launch.

Gwamba’s 14-track album has songs such as ‘My Daily Worship’ featuring Nimx, ‘Amakukonda’, featuring Charisma, ‘Timpuza’ featuring Kell Kay, ‘Questions’, ‘Ma Photo’ featuring Emm Q and ‘Ngati Inu’ featuring Kelvin Sings and Lulu.

Recently the rapper also received K15 million from Goshen City to help in the launch. He received support alongside Piksy, who got K5 million ahead of his Mtunda album launch in Mzuzu.

While Gwamba will be launching True Independence at Blantyre Sports Club, Piksy will be launching his Mtunda album in Mzuzu having already had successful launches in Blantyre and Lilongwe.

Other acts set to spice up the launch tomorrow include Fredokiss, Piksy, Driemo, Charisma, Chizmo Njuchi, Henry Czar,Mells, Waxy Kay, Same Cris, King Chambieco and Tremour.

Gwamba’s other albums are Jesus is My Boss and Mama Said God First.
