Urban musician Gwamba continues to soar in his music career which was recently cemented by his being voted Artist of the Year in the Urban Music Party (UMP) 2015.
His triumph was not well received by some quarters who felt he did nothing this year and thus did not deserve such a high profile decoration of Artist of the Year.
Many felt Nepman of the ‘Nalero’ fame deserved the mantle.
But with all that said and done, his award still remains; he is the UMP Artist of the Year 2015.
The rapper real name Duncan Zgambo makes another huge step in his career when he launches his second album titled Chako Si Changa at Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.
The launch will be spiced up by performances from other artists including Lucius Banda, Lulu, Nepman, Patience Namadingo, Tay Grin, Blak Jak, BFB, Tigris, Martse, Dali, Young Kay, DJ Lee, DJ Cool and Krazy G.
“I am ready and I just want to say to Malawians that come and be part of this history,” he said.
According to him, the 14-track album has songs such as ‘Karate,’ ‘John Tembo,’
‘Mapiko,’ and ‘Zizakhala Better.’
“The first album was a test for me but now the second album I have used all the experience. So far I have released two songs from the album,” said Gwamba.
The two songs he has released are ‘Ineyo Wa Lero,’ in which he featured Lulu and ‘Munthu,’ which features Malaulo and Tay Grin.
Some of the renowned names he has worked with in his album are BFB, DJ Sley and Daredevils.
He added that he has done the mixing and mastering of the album at their studios.
Gwamba, who is currently the UNFPA Ambassador, launched his debut album titled Kudutsa Pakhoma last year.
The ‘Bola Kusache,’ artist who has drawn his lyrics from the day to day issues people experience, said he had made progress with his second album and is optimistic that people will love it.
His debut album had other songs such as ‘Ndiyima Pachulu,’ and ‘Ndidikira.’
Gwamba also prides in winning the 2013 Malawi Music Awards rebranded to Music Malawi Awards in the Hip Hop category.
