Hangout Music Festival debuts

TheHangout Music Festival finally kicked off on Friday at Sunbird Livingstonia with several artists performing.

The festival was expected to end Sunday.

Despite happening for the first time, the festival pulled a fair audience on the first day with Disciples Band opening the proceedings.

Dev Mak of the ‘Undigulire Cellphone’ star was next as he took over from Disciples.

There were also performances from Moda Fumulani and Yanjanani Chumbu.

One of the festival goers from Salima, Jane Chawinga, described the event as good and that she enjoyed the performances.

“So far so good. I have enjoyed the performances starting from the first day,” Chawinga said.

The other artists that entertained the audience during the festival included Anthony Makondetsa and Black Missionaries.

The festival also treated people to aerobics, volleyball and netball.

Other artists who performed at the festival included Purple C, Zambia’s Digo and PST and Symon and Kendall.

Symon and Kendall announced during their performance that they will launch their latest album Natalia on October 14 2019 at Bingu International Convention Center in Lilongwe.

“The launch will also mark our 18th anniversary celebration since we started doing music,” Kendall said.

The festival on Sunday also sampled performances from Wikise, Sir Patricks, Billy Kaunda, Lulu, Atohti Manje and DJs Flame, VJ Ice, Reubie and Chronixx.

Event manager, Levison Msakambewa, said the festival was here to stay.

“This was just a testing phase and we are thankful for the support from people. This is just the beginning,” Msakambewa said.
