Hannah Kadam’manja leaves a mark as CD rakes in over K2 million

Gospel songstress Hannah Kadam’manja proved on Saturday night during the launch of her debut album Anandimenyera Nkhondo at Golden Peacock in Blantyre that she is here to stay and show the beauty of music.
With a powerful voice that she controlled easily, she conquered Golden Peacock and no wonder she compelled the guest of honour during the corporate launch, Blantyre Synod General Secretary Reverend Billy Gama, to purchase the CD at K500,000.
“Hannah is a Malawian with special talent. I am impressed. Music is powerful, it heals and it entertains and Hannah’s music did just that,” Reverend Gama, said.
He said it was because of this immense talent that he bought the CD at K500,000 from his pocket and then K100,000 from Blantyre Synod.
“This was a successful launch and I also want to call upon people to support talent,” Gama, who also offered K50,000 to Joyful Souls, said.
Blantyre Synod Moderator Reverend Masautso Mbolembole followed in the footsteps of the guest of honour by buying the CD at K150,000 and this was not all; there were two players who also purchased the CD at over K300,000 during auction with some also getting it at K100,000 and K150,000.
The hall at Golden Peacock was not jam-packed but those who graced the concert made sure they rewarded Hannah for her musical excellence by coughing in more during auction.
“I didn’t know it would turn out like this. I am thankful to God because we just planned it but He fulfilled it. I took a risk and thought of doing it differently,” Hannah said.
The audience was first treated to dinner which was part of the entry fee before they enjoyed music.
Joyful Souls warmed up the stage for Hannah with their acappella vibes before the headliner took over to perform live with a band that included Dan Khoviwa on piano and producer of the album AB Malinga on lead guitar.
With her parents in the building, Hannah dedicated the track ‘Mikwingwirima’ to her father who has been unwell for some time and in the song she sings of the healing powers of God.
She closed the curtain close to midnight with the title track followed by ‘Titemwanenge’.
Her manager Obie Gondwe said they planned a corporate launch to create an interface with decision makers and called on players out there to choose at least an artist and support them.
