Harry Nyirenda ruled out
Be Forward Wanderers have been dealt another injury blow as defender Harry Nyirenda will miss this weekend’s Fam Charity Shield at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe due to injury.
Nyirenda said he sustained a knee injury in a friendly against Dedza Young Soccer last week. The game ended 0-0.
“I have been put on a plaster of Paris but doctors will tell me this week the length of my injury lay-off,” he said.
The Nomads are also likely to miss the services of midfielder Mike Kaziputa who got injured during a pre-season match against Dedza.
Wanderers Coach, Yasin Osman, has many defenders, such as Peter Cholopi and Dennis Chembezi, who can replace Nyirenda.
During the Nomads’ friendly against Masters Security on Saturday in Dowa District, Cholopi partnered Lucky Malata in Wanderers’ central defence.
Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, said despite the absence of Nyirenda, they are ready for the Charity Shield.
“It is going to be a tough week with a crucial game against Silver Strikers [on Saturday]. We will miss Harry but we have enough players to fill the gap,” he said.
