Heavy K jets in Saturday

South Africa’s record producer and DJ, Heavy K, arrives in the country Saturday ahead of his performance at Fifteen Sports Bar & Lounge in Blantyre on the same day.

Heavy K will spice up the birthday celebration of Fifteen Sports Bar & Lounge.

Co-owner of Fifteen Sports Bar & Lounge, James Makunje Jnr, confirmed Thursday that the South African artist would arrive Saturday.

Makunje Jnr said Heavy K is excited to perform in the country and that he has promised nothing but the best.

He said the support they have received in the past one year has been massive.

“The support we got has exceeded our expectations. It has been an interesting journey from the time we opened the lounge to now. We have learned so much, which has helped us better our craft and we learn new things every day,” Makunje said.

He said they chose Heavy K to spice up the birthday celebration because his music “can make most people want to get up and dance”.

“His music is loved by many and he is a brilliant live performer. It was a tough decision to even start thinking of who else we would have chosen had it been that he would not be available,” Makunje Jnr said.

It is not the first time the lounge will be bringing into the country a South African artist as they once brought in Zahara.

“Our celebration has been made possible by the sponsors, who are believing in what the youth are doing. We are determined to change the entertainment landscape in Malawi,” he said.

Since its establishment, Fifteen Sports Bar & Lounge has hosted a number of local initiatives, including Africa-themed fashion show and music performances.

Heavy K, real name Mkhululi Siqula, is well-known for songs such as ‘Wena,’ ‘Woza Nana’ and ‘Celebration’.

The artist taught himself to be a music composer, producer, songwriter and DJ.

In 2009, Heavy K met Oskido, a legendary producer and DJ, who had a positive impact on his career.
