Heifer International President and Chief Executive Officer, Pierre Ferrari, was in the country to appreciate some of the projects the organisation is implementing in the country.
The tour included a visit to Lilongwe where Heifer is running a farming project in the district.
Ferrari engaged some selected farmers in Chileka Extension Planning Area (EPA) before handing over Milk Chilling Centre to Mapuyu Milk Bulking Group.
Speaking after handing over Mapuyu Milk Chilling Centre, Ferrari said he was impressed with the projects being implemented in the country and how they are transforming people’s lives.
“I am really impressed with the hardworking spirit of Malawians. In the areas I visited, the farmers were sharing many success stories of the projects,” he said.
Chileka EPA Agriculture Extension Development Coordinator, Webster Jassi, hailed Heifer International for implementing the projects in the area.
Heifer International Malawi in partnership with Farmers Union of Malawi (Fum) and Civil Society Agriculture Network (Cisanet) is implementing the Department for International Development (DFID) supported Central Diary Scale-up Project in Dowa, Lilongwe and Mchinji district.
The project is expected to directly benefit 5,000 households.
