Here comes ‘Kuimba 11’

The wait is now over for Black Missionaries fans as the reggae group this weekend launches its Kuimba 11 album.

The group has received criticism since releasing four promotional songs on April 20 namely ‘Zofuna Mtima Wanga’, ‘Special Lover’, ‘Umboni,’ and ‘Mbusa’.

Some quarters have said the group could have done better on the songs but Blacks lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani, while welcoming constructive criticism, insisted they have done a better job.

Others said people should wait for the whole album to come out. Now they have the time to make their judgment.

Black Missionaries has been playing the promotional songs during some of their shows which have however, been welcomed by the fans.

“We appreciate the support that we get from people and we thank God for the gift of life and talent,” Anjiru said Thursday.

He said people should patronise their show in large numbers as they will perform all the 10 songs in the album.

“It’s a different launch. We are happy that the big day has come. People will see a new set up by Black Missionaries and also new faces,” Anjiru said.

Ahead of the launch, the group has also released two music videos – ‘Special Lover’, and ‘Gombe La

Keyboardist Chizondi Fumulani has once again come out to lead with his hoarse voice just like he also managed proceedings in ‘Mr Bossman’, off Kuimba 10 and in Kuimba 11 he has also led in the romantic track ‘Special Lover’.

“I owe this to the team for entrusting me with the task in some of the songs in Kuimba 11. There is still more room for improvement but I am enjoying this and we are ready for the people this weekend,” Chizondi said.

Bassist Peter Amidu also said they are ready.

“All what I ask fans is to listen to the message and we thank God that the mission still continues,” Amidu said.

Kuimba 11 will be launched tonight at Robins Park in Blantyre where Dan Lufani, Skeffa Chimoto, Great Angels Choir and Anthony Makondetsa will be part of the menu.

On Sunday, the launch goes to Lilongwe Golf Club where Entertainers Promotions has hyped up the event by arranging to fly the group on Malawian Airlines.

Some of the artists set to spice up the Lilongwe launch include Lucius Banda, Nepman, Sam Smack, Dan Lu, Skeffa Chimoto and Anthony Makondetsa.

Blacks will then take the launch to Squirrels Park in Mzuzu on July 28.
