Hilco plans big in music
Balaka-based female artist Hilco, real name Hilda Ulolo, has said she is determined to propel her music to greater heights and not only make up numbers.
The singer said she has made progress as she has managed to work on four music videos, having released the songs recently.
With the music industry being dominated by male musicians, Hilco said it is high time female artists pulled up their socks and remained at par with male counterparts.
She admitted that, despite the progress, she needs to dig deeper to win the hearts of many people.
Hilco said she is happy that her music videos have received an overwhelming response since they came out and that they are currently enjoying airplay in most of the local TV stations.
The music videos she has released are ‘Cheke Cheke’, ‘Ekizakitile’, ‘Touch and go’ and ‘Chibae’.
She said in ‘Cheke Cheke’, the song hinges on love where a woman is telling her loved one that, no matter the challenges they face, she will never leave him.
In the song ‘Ekizakitile’, Hilco sings about a girl who is deeply in love.
Hilco seems to have taken a drive in singing love songs and This is also the case in ‘Touch and Go’.
