Hills and Associates Wednesday lived up to their promise after handing over two plots to Flames striker Gabadinho Mhango and goalkeeper Charles Thom.
The company pledged the plots to the two players for their outstanding performance during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Cameroon.
Thom received the plot at a ceremony held in Lilongwe whereas Mhango received it in absentia as he is in South Africa.
Hills & Associates Sales and Marketing Manager Brian Chikuse said the two players deserved special recognition for their performance at Afcon.
“The players did the nation proud. We are committed to supporting the Flames players so that they continue working hard,” Chikuse said.
The company also announced that all Flames players have a chance to buy a plot at a discount of 40 percent.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Executive Committee Member Muhammad Selemani, who received the plot on behalf of Mhango, hailed the company for motivating the players.
“This is good for the players and they will be motivated. We encourage companies and individuals to support players,” Selemani said.
On his part, Thom was excited saying the players would be motivated to do well in upcoming competitions.
“I am very excited. Football is a short-term career and I believe this will help me prepare for life after football,” said the former Dwangwa United goalkeeper, who also got another plot last week.
During the Afcon finals in Cameroon, Mhango shone like a beacon after he scored three goals in three matches including a stunner in the 2-1 loss to Morocco in Round of 16.
He also netted a brace in the 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe in the Group Stages and was also voted as man of the match in that match.
On the part of Thom, he was named as man-of-the-match in the goal-less stalemate against Senegal in his debut.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper also featured against Morocco in the Round of 16.
Several companies and individuals honoured the Flames for their impressive performance at the continental showpiece.
