Honourary PhD for Thom Mpinganjira
Local business tycoon and chief executive officer of FDH Financial Holdings, Thom Mpinganjira has been decorated with an honorary doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree for his contribution to the development of the country through business.
Mpinganjira confirmed the development in an interview, saying the PhD has recently been conferred on him by Exploits University.
The doctorate comes barely a few months after the Small and Medium Enterprises Association (SMEA) also awarded Mpinganjira for his contribution in the growth and development of the SME sector.
The former Malawi Stock Exchange chief executive officer described the doctorate degree as an honour.
“It feels good to learn that while you go about your normal day to day activities, others take notice,” said Mpinganjira.
From a humble beginning in 2002, Mpinganjira has built a solid financial services group comprising First Discount House, FDH Stock Brokers, FDH Bank and FDH Money Bureau, creating jobs for over 250 Malawians.
