House rises today

By Audrey Kapalamula:

The Business Committee of Parliament has resolved that Parliament should adjourn sine die today and not March 18 as scheduled.

Speaker of Parliament, Richard Msowoya, said the House will cover Monday’s business today.

“The committee met to, among other things, consider the programme for the remaining days of Parliament meeting. At an appropriate time, the Leader of the House will move a motion to allow the House to meet in the morning to 5pm,” he said.

Meanwhile, Finance, Economic Planning and Development Minister, Goodall Gondwe, in his response to the mid-year budget review, among other things, said the government was negotiating on the Salima-Lilongwe Water project as well as housing project for security personnel.

Gondwe was responding to questions that parties and individual members of Parliament raised during the general debate on the mid-year budget review statement delivered on Friday.
