Gospel musician Wilfred Kasito of the ‘Nyamuhanga’ fame has said he would soon return to the limelight with new songs despite being silent for some time.
Kasito has not been active in music for years, forcing some music lovers to say he was out of the gospel music game.
But the artist said he has been busy with other works.
“Music will always be part of me. I am passionate about music and would have loved to have been releasing songs frequently as some of my colleagues have done and even hold shows but it has been difficult because of work. So, I had to give myself that break,” Kasito said.
He insisted, that this year, he is ready to record new songs.
“A lot of people have been asking me about when I will give them new music and, so, I promise that this year something new will come out. This year for sure I will record,” Kasito said.
He said he was happy with the work that fellow musicians have put up over the years and that there was progress.
“There is a huge improvement. Again, we have so many studios now and so it’s easier to record music. We just have to keep pushing while at the same time focusing on quality and not quantity,” Kasito said.
He said the long break he has had has also given him enough insight into the direction he is set to take as far as his progress in music is concerned.
“If you look at the music now, you will see that the current crop is fusing in a lot of genres in their music and so I need to fit into this as well if I have to stand out and also be welcomed. All in all, I will still keep my identity, which people have known me for especially with songs like ‘Nyamuhanga’ which enjoyed massive airplay on TVM then,” Kasito said.
