By Patrick Achitabwino:
Boxer Muhammad Ali said he was the greatest and indeed he made it into the club of the greatest of all time. Mike Tyson said he was the ‘baddest’ and indeed, at his peak, he knocked out many other heavyweight boxers.
Speaking on his book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill said: “There is no any other book like it and there will never be another book like it.”
He was right. The book went on to sell millions of copies and got translated to several languages on earth. The simple two words ‘I am’ have the power to showcase the path of your life. What you believe and profess is what you will end up becoming.
Everything starts with the mind. Battles are lost and won first in the mind then in reality. When you go to war with no ounce of enthusiasm, certainly you have lost the war before you begin it. If a chalk board is hung on the wall with the words ‘I am’ and some dots so that you complete, how would you complete it?
Take a moment. Reflect on yourself truthfully. Do not deceive yourself. How would you complete the sentence ‘I am’?
Certainly people will fill it differently.
I am a writer
I am a failure
I am a struggler
I am a loser
I am a winner
Without carrying out an empirical research, for most people, the sentence will be completed with negatives because we allow negatives to paralyse our ability, energy, enthusiasm and drive to move forward.
It is time to change now. Start having a positive orientation. Look at the positives you have and contemplate how you could become great after utilising them. Any little gift you have, any little talent you have, any little knowledge you have are all seeds of success. You are just an unpolished diamond waiting to be cleaned to shine brightly. Never diminish your brightness.
One great speaker said: “The truth is you will never win in life by becoming someone you are not. You can never live the life of your dreams by settling for someone else’s idea of what you should be doing in life. You will never ever be happy in your life if you change who you are in order to fit in with others. Until you accept and embrace who you are, you are destined to live a mere fraction of your potential. It is simply impossible to be genuinely happy when you are not genuinely yourself.”
One great motivational song is worth singing along. It resonates with the soul. What comes after ‘I am’ will shape your life. What you speak after ‘I am’, what you believe after ‘I am’ will control your decisions and shape your life.
‘I am powerful. Whatever I want to achieve I believe I am capable. It is all attainable. The words ‘I am’ will make or break you. Be careful what you are saying every day. Do not let negativity come in and take you. Stay strong and positive and you will make a break through.
Simply take a great breath and tell yourself: I am powerful. I am unstoppable.
