Ichocho comes out of shell
Malawi’s number two bodybuilder Yasin Ichocho Suwedi has come out of the cocoon to clear his image following a coffin stunt that brought differing views from his fans.
Ichocho stunned the bodybuilding community when in imitation of professional wrestler Undertaker, was ferried in a coffin before he started showcasing his muscles.
Following the act some of his fans were excited but others attacked him that he had joined Satanism claiming that he had abandoned his Muslim religion.
“I don’t know if I were Satanic I would have been still using mini buses to travel around the city. I say if I were satanic I wouldn’t still be in a rented house in Ndirande Township.
“I performed that stunt because I was imitating Undertaker. He is a Christian and I a Muslim. I was given about an hour to showcase my muscles so as a way of utilising the time I was given I had to do that stunt,” he said.
Ichocho said he was working on ways to improve his status in bodybuilding.
“I want to become a better bodybuilder that can transform lives with different projects across the country. I want to do well during this year’s Mr Malawi Bodybuilding contest,” he said.
During the Mr Malawi contest staged in November, promising bodybuilder Brown Gondwe emerged champion in absence of five-time champion Henry Master.
The contest was held at Mkango Lodge in Blantyre and it attracted about 35 bodybuilders.
Gondwe was selected because of his overall body mass and muscle definition which put him above the rest. Ichocho finished on second position while Emmanuel Mukuwa was third.
