Renowned body builder Yasin Suwedi, popularly known as ‘Mr Ichocho’, has said he is impressed that the bodybuilding sport is growing in the country.
Suwedi said this during an annual Ichocho Ndirande Bash, a variety show he organises every year at his home in Ndirande Township, Blantyre, to celebrate New Year.
“It was unfortunate that we did not have Mr Malawi Contest in 2020 due to Covid-19 but we were expecting to have it this January so we will see. However I am pleased that the sport is growing in the country. In the past, few people used to contest but now the competition can attract over 50 contesters. I am also happy that I have promoted some people from here in Ndirande who can contest in Mr Malawi,” Suwedi said.
During the show, bodybuilders competed in weightlifting and there were also music performances from some artists.
Suwedi said he was also happy that people have fallen in love with the show and would continue holding it every year.
One of the people who attended the event Moses Kayisi commended Suwedi for his commitment in promoting bodybuilding in the country.
