Well-known bodybuilder Yasin ‘Ichocho’ Suwedi has said taking up an acting role is helping him fulfill his mission as an all-rounder entertainer.

Ichocho is now a character on Mdyangu and Spouses and Workmates soap operas which air on Times Television.

“When I was offered a chance to feature on those soap operas I did not hesitate but grab it. I knew featuring in those plays would help me reach out to my audience. As an entertainer I have to use every opportunity to keep entertaining people,” he said.

The bodybuilder said he negotiated with the producers of the plays to continue using his household name, Ichocho, as he did not want to disturb his followers.

“This is a name which I was given as an entertainer. I use it during bodybuilding competitions and on plays. Through this way it helps me to reach out to my fans easily,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ichocho said he was still working hard to make a competitive return to bodybuilding competitions having been missed three big events in the last four years.

“As I stated earlier on I had a lot of issues that affected me including a car accident in 2017 which cost lives of dear friends and this affected me emotionally. Now it is time to move on and return to the sport in a professional manner,” he said.

Recently, Ichocho hit at former Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association of Malawi (Wabam) executive committee for putting the sport in disrepute saying the environment was not conducive for bodybuilders to flourish.

Despite commanding a large following, Ichocho is yet to win the Mr Malawi Bodybuilding title.
