IIA equips auditors on crisis management

Internal auditors in the country have been urged to be vigilant in their operation and be on top of the game when crisis occurs in their institutions.

Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Malawi president, Paul Nyirenda, made the call in Blantyre on Friday at the end of a three-day workshop on demystifying continuity management.

He said professionalism in the auditing sector is mostly known in times when firms have or are on the verge of facing a crisis.

“Organisations that have business continuity management systems increase their chances of surviving a potential disaster than those that do not have any plans,” Nyirenda told the participants.

He said the institute is committed to ensuring that internal auditors in Malawi add value to their organisations by ensuring that professional standards are adhered to at all levels.

One of the participants Ethel Bvalani, spoke highly of the training, saying it will help sharpen professional conduct among internal auditors.
