As the TNM Super League title-winning party continues at Lali Lubani Road, about 10 individuals have given Be Forward Wanderers players an early Christmas present of K7.1 million.
Wanderers are celebrating their first league championship in 11 years which they clinched last Saturday after a 4-1 win over Masters Security at Balaka Stadium.
The individuals include the club’s Board of Trustees Chairman Rashid Gaffar, his deputy James Chuma, lawyer Chancy Gondwe and Aslam Gaffar.
Rashid Gaffar, who contributed K3 million of the total amount, also paid players who were on the lineup during the Saturday match K80,000 each, which adds up to K1.28 million for 16 players.
He said the players deserve to be rewarded for bringing joy to the Nomads family by winning the league title.
“Winning the league title is a very big achievement for any team. We had won two cups last season and what remained was the league championship. The players worked hard for the sake of the Wanderers family and we must pay them for that,” he said.
Wanderers Chairman, Gift Mkandawire, said the club was still getting more contributions from other individuals as of Monday.
One of the team’s players, Vales Kamzere, who is also a goalkeeper trainer, expressed gratitude to the individuals for the contributions.
Kamzere said the monetary rewards would further motivate the players ahead of their participation in the Caf Champions League.
The players are also expected to get a fair share of the K15 million prize money for winning the league title.
Wanderers have 68 points from 29 matches and can end the season with 71 points if they win their last match against Red Lions this weekend.
