TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets will be without defender Gomezgani Chirwa and striker Chiukepo Msowoya for the next two weeks after picking injuries when the side defeated Mighty Tigers 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
Chirwa pulled muscles towards the end of the first half and was replaced by attacker Macfallen Mgwira while Msowoya sustained an injury five minutes into the second half before being replaced by Lanjesi Nkhoma.
This means Bullets have six players on the injury list, including full-back Precious Sambani, Captain John Lanjesi, left winger Righteous Banda and midfielder Azizi Mwakifuna.
Bullets Assistant Coach Peter Mponda was hopeful that Chirwa and Msowoya would recover soon as they did not sustain serious injuries.
“This is a big blow to us as the number of injured players in our camp is increasing. The development is coming when the league has reached a critical stage. The team doctor, upon primary examination, says Chirwa and Msowoya’s injuries are not serious; so, we will wait for thorough medical assessment,” he said.
During Sunday’s encounter against Tigers, second-placed Bullets scored through Hassan Kajoke and Chimwemwe Idana to tie with leaders Silver Strikers at 39 points each.
Precious Chipungu scored Tigers’ consolation goal.
