Insurers gear up for Sports Day
The Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) has said preparations are at an advanced stage for the Insurance Sports Day slated for June 30.
IIM Events Officer, Ted Makunje, Thursday said the Sports Day will be held at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre.
Makunje said the Sports Day is an important event on the calendar of insurers as it helps them to come together and interact in an informal set up.
He added that the Sports Day helps the insurers to keep fit.
“As they say, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. So this Sports Day helps us to relax from our busy schedules.
“It also gives us an opportunity to interact and share experiences on some of the challenges in the industry as well as share possible solutions,” he said.
The insurers will compete in football, netball, volleyball, sack race, chess, bawo, weightlifting, basketball, tug-of-war, gendaball and cycling.
Makunje said on the eve of the Sports Day, there will be a golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club.
“During prize presentation on June 30, there will be a performance by Edgar ndi Davis and disco by DJ Maccoge.
