Inter-Cricket League final on August 30

The Southern Region Inter- Cricket League final between Mpingwe Blue and Mpingwe White would be held on August 30.

The competition’s organising secretary, Saeed Limdawala, said they decided to give the teams a week to prepare for the final.

“It has been hectic weeks. We want to have the best final. So, we want to give the finalists breathing space. We feel one week will be enough for the teams to rest and fine-tune before the final,” he said.

Limdawala said they were courting a potential sponsor to spoil the champions.

Ironically, the competition got underway without a sponsor as the organising committee stressed that the main motive of the competition was to give players and teams a platform to showcase talent.

“That’s the essence of the competition. We felt medals and trophies would inspire players and teams to play out of passion,” he said.

To reach the final, Mpingwe White beat Mpingwe Purple.

Mpingwe Purple batted first and made 170 runs in 20 overs. Wasim Lusaka made 34 runs for his team, but it was not enough to save his team.

In response, Mpingwe White made those runs in 17 overs. Majid Khan made 55 runs not out whereas Ahsam Jonty made 65 runs to book their final place.

In another semifinal, Msc Orange made 118 runs in 20-Over. Soyeb Patel made 34 runs, but his colleagues failed to support him.
