Malawi National Football Team’s heroics at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon are expected to open windows of opportunity for several players.
Fifa-sanctioned player intermediary Amadou Fontem Tigana said he had recommended defender Lawrence Chaziya and midfielders Francisco Madinga and Zebron Kalima to European clubs after their impressive performances.
Tigana, a France-based Cameroonian, said Swedish club Malmo had expressed interest in signing Madinga while Kalima might sign for the French Division One side Lorient.
“I have been in touch with Malmo over the past days. They are impressed with Madinga and their technical director wants the player. I have already sent them video clips. As for Zebron, I am still in talks with Lorient. We expect to strike a deal soon. I just want to hear from Madinga’s team Dila Gori in Georgia to understand what they want,” Tigana said.
He said there were prospects for Chaziya to sign for a team based in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
Civil Service United General Secretary Ronald Chiwaula, who also manages Chaziya, confirmed being contacted on the matter.
“We are currently weighing our options after some agents from South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria and now Cameroon made contacts. But we are not in a hurry. We will settle for nothing but the best,” Chiwaula said.
