Interview referee, Peterkins Kayira insists
Chitipa United Technical Director, Peterkins Kayira, on Sunday accused officiating personnel of being behind the team’s 3-0 defeat to Mafco FC in a TNM Super League game played at Chitowe Stadium, Dwangwa, in Nkhotakota.
“Go and interview the referee,” Kayira told The Daily Times after the game. “Sometimes, you should talk to the referees so that they should tell you why they make some of these questionable decisions.”
He was referring to the fact that Chitipa had Alick Phiri’s effort ruled out for offside and a penalty appeal turned down in the second-half.
Chitipa Captain, Abel Mwakilama, said the disallowed goal, when the team was down by 1-0, frustrated them.
Chitipa also lost 2-0 to Dwangwa at the same venue on Saturday and remain bottom of the log table with 11 points from 21 games.
Mafco Coach, Temwa Msuku, said they studied Chitipa’s style of play in Saturday’s game.
