South Africa-based Malawian light heavyweight boxer Isaac Chilemba has missed a chance to vie for a World Boxing Council fight after losing by majority decision to unbeaten WBC number two ranked Eleider Alvarez at the Vidéotron Centre in Quebec City canada, on Saturday.

According to fightnews.com, after a tactical 12 rounds, Alvarez won 118-110, 115-113 on two cards. The third card was 114-114.

The Colombian boxer has earned the right to face WBC champion and fellow Montreal fighter Adonis Stevenson.

Alvarez has improved his record to 19 straight wins, including 10 knockouts while the Malawian dropped his record to 24 wins, three defeats and two draws.

Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) president Lonzoe Zimba said Chilemba deserved to win.

“The fight was close. Even one of the judges declared it as a draw,” he said.
