Boxing star Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba has attracted attention after challenging South African boxer Ryno Liebenberg.

The Malawian launched the challenge after latest World Boxing Council rankings showed he was ranked 13.

Chilemba said he decided to openly dare Liebenberg following calls from boxing fans to see them fighting.

“I have been getting a lot of calls and messages asking if this fight is actually happening or if it will happen My answer has been plain and simple as I answered when the first suggestion was made. So I decided to put it here for all those who are still wondering, asking that question,” he said.

Interestingly, both Chilemba and Liebenberg recently reduced weight to super middleweight from light heavyweight category.

Liebenberg stopped Rowan Campbell on March 14 whereas Chilemba drew with Fedor Chudinov of Russia on February 20.

Chilemba said he was comfortable with both weight categories.

“For now, I am comfortable at either weight division. If I have a good offer at light heavyweight I will do it, same at super middleweight. This guy (Rayno) is a light heavyweight fighter but he did the same as I did recently, he moved down to super middleweight because the fight made sense. He won by stoppage time.

“I am a fighter, a champion who is always ready for any challenge. I will fight @rynothelion [Liebenberg] any time, at super middleweight or light heavyweight. At this point I will leave it to them and see what they will do with the challenge thrown in their direction. My team is happy with the fight; therefore, let us see what the other side will do. Boxing fans want to see it,” he said.

Liebenberg, 37, has 21 wins including 14 knockouts, seven defeats and a draw whereas Chilemba 32, has 26 wins including 10 knockouts, seven losses and three draws.
