“I remember last year when he was also admitted people were all over on social media saying he was ‘dead.’ This time around it’s the same, I have received so many calls starting yesterday and the phones keep on coming,” said Mabedi.

He said he had received calls from people from outside the country having read stories through the social media.

“People are using the social media for wrong reasons and that is spreading lies. Why spread false information? It’s good to verify information before putting it out,” said Mabedi.

Mabedi, who has starred with Izeki for years under the tag Izeki ndi Jakobo, said Izeki was admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre on Monday.

“He was in the Intensive Care Unit but he is now in Ward 3B. His condition has slightly improved,” said Mabedi yesterday afternoon.

Mabedi, who is the director of Kwathu Drama Group, said Malawians need to refrain from Spreading false hoods.

“I remember when I was also admitted last year people were all over spreading false information such that my family was affected. Let us love one another and verify information before putting it to the public.

“Let me also call upon some online platforms who take up the leading role of posting information without verification to always check,” said Mabedi.

Izeki starred with Kwathu Drama Group before he quit to concentrate on preaching the word of God.
