Jaco Jana drops music videos
Lilongwe-based singer and guitarist Jaco Jana has released four music videos off his debut album I Will Shine.
The singer, who spent much of his time in Norway in 2015 on an exchange programme courtesy of Music Crossroads Malawi said on Wednesday that he was excited that the four music videos are ready.
“I have four music videos ready which people can start sampling. It’s been hard work putting together the four music videos. Of course the video for the title track ‘I Will Shine’ I shot it when I was in Norway so it has now been finalised,” said Jaco.
Apart from ‘I Will Shine,’ which is a good music video, the others are ‘Nsekenawo,’ ‘Mwana Mwamuthawa,’ and ‘Maso Patsogolo,’ which he shot in Lilongwe.
“I am working hard to move along with technology, music videos is the way to go and it will actually help me reach out to more people and get the stories behind my songs,” he said.
Jaco, who is currently involved in training youths music, said he is not rushing into recording a new album.
“I am hoping to release my second album in 2018. After my debut album I saw a lot of mistakes and so I am trying to see how I can improve on the second album. Music is a serious business and so this is why I have given myself two years,” he said.
The musician has said he wants his music to be rich in the guitar and that he is planning to work on an acoustic set of music and put it on YouTube.
“My teacher taught me that the guitar needs to stand out in your songs and so I want to play and showcase those good guitar skills,” said Jaco.
The singer also revealed that he is currently recording a song with some artists from Norway.
“The artists from Norway have already done their part and have sent the song to me and so I am just working on the lyrics before I send it back,” he said.
The musician also took time out to call upon Malawians to conserve the environment and that he has decided to be part of this campaign.
“As an artist I have decided to join this campaign because as artists we need the trees to be safe to have our guitars. We need to plant more trees for without the trees there is no wood and without the wood there is no guitar,” he said.
