He said that Mabedi submitted travel documents for him, guardian and kidney donor.
Mabedi last Thursday told The Daily Times that he was waiting for communication from the government having submitted all the paperwork.
He said this soon after he received a donation of K100,000 from HTD Limited to help towards his trip to India.
Mabedi is undergoing dialysis at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre.
The government stepped in to help after Friends of Eric Mabedi sounded an SoS that the comedian was in urgent need of K20 million to travel to India.
Despite the government stepping in to help the comedian, Friends of Eric Mabedi said they could continue working hand-in-hand with the government as well as other well-wishers.
Friends of Eric Mabedi spokesperson, Higger Mkandawire, said they want to make sure that the veteran actor leaves for India this month.
Mabedi has since hailed the government and all those who have come forward to support him.
“I would like to thank all those who have come forward since an SOS was sounded. I am very grateful,” Mabedi said.
The veteran actor is Kwathu Drama Group director, National Theatre Association of Malawi President and Copyright Society of Malawi Board Chairperson.
Recently Ntam also held a fundraising show in Lilongwe which raised K122,000.
The theatre body also held a fundraising show in Blantyre where it raised K247,000.
