James Chonga and Carol Banda emerged champions of Old Mutual ball-pool held at Blantyre Sports Club on Wednesday.
Playing off handicap eight, Chonga posted 23 points to emerge champion in the men’s section.
“It was one of my best tournaments which I enjoyed with my colleagues. I appreciate Old Mutual for supporting the ball-pool tournament,” he said.
Boniface Chima playing off handicap 20, was counted out to finish second after collecting 21 points while Harold Lungu with handicap seven, was counted out to third.
In the ladies’ category, Banda, with handicap 22, scored 19 points to win the championship.
“I don’t take Old Mutual’s support for granted. I take Old Mutual as the mother body of ladies golf sponsorship having been with us in Botswana, Zambia and here Malawi,” she said.
Maggie Mukwena playing off handicap 25, finished second in ladies section with 18 points.
In individual category, Chima, who finished second in the main tournament, hit the longest drive on hole 17.
James Chuma, who is also the Malawi National Council of Sports board chairperson, won the nearest to the pin drive while Connie Muguvu won a similar award in ladies category.
Old Mutual acting chief executive officer, Edith Jiya, said they were pleased with the turn up and they wanted to interact with their clients.
Jiya also highlighted services which Old Mutual is offering to its clients to enable them access their pension statements online.
