The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has suspended Executive Director (ED) James Kaphale on allegations of misconduct, Board Chairperson Dr Jerry Jana has confirmed.
The Daily Times has also learned, from other sources, that CFTC had suspended two other senior officials.
In a telephone interview, Jana said the board had instituted investigations into the alleged misconduct and that investigations would be completed this week.
“It is true that Kaphale has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigations. There were allegations of misconduct and the board will make a decision based on the findings,” he said.
Meanwhile, CFTC Director of Legal Services Apoche Itimu is the acting ED.
