Be Forward Wanderers have had mixed fortunes ahead of tomorrow’s crucial TNM Super League encounter against Mafco in Chitowe Stadium, Dwangwa in Nkhotakota District.
Sweeper Foster Namwela and striker Jimmy Zakazaka have been ruled out through groin and harm-string injuries, coach Eddingtone Ng’onamo confirmed yesterday.
“Foster is our defence pillar. His absence is a big blow but we have able replacements such as Bongani Kayipa and Kondwani Lufeyo,” Ng’onamo said.
But the good news for the Nomads is that leading striker, Peter Wadabwa, is back after serving a yellow card suspension last week when Wanderers trounced Karonga United 4-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.
The Nomads, placed ninth on 28 points, badly need maximum points to keep pace with the championship chasing pack, which Blue Eagles, with 35 points, lead.
Mafco are second with 34 points, followed by Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets on third and fourth places, respectively. Bullets and Silver have 33 points each.
Mafco are still without captain, Paul Ndlovu, and midfielder, Stain Malata, who are serving a six-game suspension for being involved in a fracas on the eve of a Carlsberg Cup quarterfinal match at Chitowe.
