Joe Gwaladi case adjourned to August 4

The case in which musician Joe Gwaladi is accused of defilement failed to be heard on Monday at Phalombe First Grade Magistrate Court.

Phalombe Police Spokesperson Augustus Nkhwazi said on Thursday that the case was adjourned to August 4.

“The case was supposed to be heard on Monday but it did not take place so it has been adjourned to August 4,” said Nkhwazi

The musician was arrested last month for allegedly defiling a 14-year old girl. The musician, who is currently on bail has since pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The musician famed for the track ‘Tumbocid’ is said to have woken up in the middle of the night last month and defiled the girl who later reported the incident to Mulomba Police.

Mulomba Police reported the issue to Phalombe Police who later arrested the 22-year old musician.

The girl was taken t o Phalombe Health Centre where upon tests it was confirmed that she had been defiled.

The musician is answering charges of defilement contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code.
