Malawian coach John Maduka remains positive as his South Africa DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United prepare to square off with KwaZulu-Natal rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows today.

Maduka is hoping for a turnaround in his team’s fortunes after an embarrassing 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.

The result extended Maritzburg’s winless run to five matches.

Maduka admitted feeling pressure but said he remains focused on the clash with Arrows.

“I don’t know. The pressure will always be there. You must remember that we are trying to build a new team. You can see the players we introduced. Most of them are new in the PSL [Premier Soccer League].

“So when you are building a team, you will get [beaten] along the way, it’s part of building the team. It will happen. Things like this will happen. It’s part of growth. So as a coach, yes the pressure is always there. But we will take one game at a time. We look forward to the coming game,” he told supersport.com.

Maritzburg are third from bottom with 11 points from 12 matches.

Arrows are also winless in four league matches after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Maduka’s former team Royal AM on Tuesday.
