Malawian Coach John Maduka has unveiled three more signings as he continues to shape his Maritzburg United squad ahead of the new season.
Maduka, who is at Maritzburg after resigning from rivals Royal AM early last month, has signed former Golden Arrows winger Siboniso Conco, Tshidiso Monamodi from neighbours Royal and Brian Hlongwa from Uthongathi FC.
The former Malawi National Football Team captain told the South Africa DStv Premiership side’s website that he is happy with how the new players have been adapting to his methods.
“We have a number of friendly matches lined up in the next two weeks as we prepare for the kick-off of the new season which will allow us to assess combinations to ensure we look at hitting the ground running in the League,” the website quoted him as saying.
According to maritzburgunited.co.za, 26-year-old Conco will add to the attacking options with his ability to play on both wings.
“Monamodi – who previously worked with the Head Coach at Royal AM – brings depth into the defensive department for Maritzburg United. After catching the attention of the Team of Choice with his consistent performances in the NFD for Uthongathi, Hlongwa also comes in to beef up the defensive unit,” the website reports.
On July 8, Maduka announced Karim Kimvuidi, Given Mashikinya, Bonginkosi Makume and Bongani Sam as his first signings ahead of the upcoming 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
The Malawian will be hoping to continue with his exploits at Maritzburg after guiding debutants Royal to a third place finish and qualification for the Caf Confederation Cup.
