Mvula, who was named Sky Sports fans’ Player-of-the-Season after guiding Thunder to Vitality Superleague championship, limped off towards the end of the grand finale on Saturday.
Thunder Coach, Karen Greig, said they would take care of Mvula before she heads back to Malawi for the off-season break.
“It was unfortunate for Joyce having to come off as she had a great game. We do not quite know what is wrong and she will have to get a scan but, hopefully, it is only a tweak of her knee. We will look after her before she goes back to Malawi in a few weeks,” Greig told BBC.
Mvula said she was feeling better and hoped to be fit for the World Cup set for Liverpool, England, from July 12.
“I am now feeling better. I am able to bend the knee. But, still more, I will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury,” she said.
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, said they were monitoring Mvula’s situation.
“She is our player and is enjoying good form. We need her for the World Cup. We need more players to be competing in top leagues for our game to develop. This would also improve the performance of our national team,” Bapu said.
