Malawi’s promising attacker, Joyce Mvula, has made an impressive start to the netball season in the United Kingdom after her Manchester Thunder registered three successive league wins over the weekend.

Thunder left it late to beat Northumbria 53-46. Thunder also defeated UWS Sirens 60-43 and Severn Stars 48-47.

Mvula came off the bench in the last two games, helping Thunder to snatch late victories.

“It is good that we have started strongly. The good thing is that we have demonstrated a good spirit. We could have lost those two games but the players were fantastic. If we play like this until the end of the season, we might be talking of the championship,” she said.

Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, said they were excited with Mvula’s impact at Thunder, who she joined last season from Blue Eagles Sisters.

“We need our top players to compete in top leagues so that they should help us to bridge the gap which is there,” she said.
