JTI Leaf gets global award

One of the country’s tobacco buying companies, JTI Leaf Malawi has won Top Employer 2020 Award issued by the Top Employers Institute.
The institute is a global authority which recognises excellence.
In a statement Top Employers Institute says organisations certified as Top Employers dedicate to providing best working environment for employees through progressive people-first human resource practices.
“An organisation will have to prove that implementation of their people strategies enriches the world of work of employees,” said Top Employers Institute Chief Executive Officer, David Plink in the statement.
Plink says the certified particants are a shining example of a dedication to people practices as they continuously commit to empowering employees.
JTI Corporate Affairs and Communications Director, Limbani Kakhome expressed gratitude for the accolade.
“It feels good to be recognised and awarded. Employees are at the core of our business and their welfare is of paramount importance. The Top Employers Institute has recognised our efforts and that gives us the zeal to work even better next year,” Kakhome said.
He said JTI, which operates in 130 countries, has approximately 45, 000 employees.
JTI Malawi employs at least 1,400 people at the peak of every season.
The award comes as JTI celebrates 10 years of operations in the country.
