One of the country’s leading tobacco buyers, JTI Leaf Malawi has relaunched its promotion dubbed ‘Mlimi Wozitsata Ayiphule’.
In the promotion, the company’s tobacco growers are expected to be rewarded different prizes for delivering quality tobacco and quantities which they agreed in their contract.
This comes months after the company implemented a similar promotion in the previous season.
During the promotion relaunch in Kasungu, JTI Leaf Malawi Corporate Affairs and Communications Director Limbani Kakhome said the growers, who will deliver quality leaf and the agreed quantities, shall receive a reward which acts as an incentive.
Kakhome said there are 600 bags of fertilizer and three motorcycles which are up for grabs for tobacco growers who will do well in the promotion.
“All JTI growers are eligible and stand a chance to win various prizes including one of three motorcycles, fully registered, 300 bags of NPK fertilizer, 300 bags of Urea fertilizer and numerous consolation prizes. Winners will have their prizes delivered at their respective homes,” Kakhome said.
One of the JTI’s tobacco growers, Michael Mbidzi hailed the company for bringing such promotions which he said are a motivation to the farmers.
“Firstly, these are items that farmers need but most of us cannot afford, so using such packages to reward farmers is a great thing that I would like to commend JTI for. As growers we pledge to continue delivering quality leaf,” Mbidzi said.
The promotion, which started on April 15, the day the tobacco market opened, will run until the market closes.
