K3 million book donation for Salima’s Ngodzi Primary School

In a bid to help improve quality of education, Islamic Foundation for Development has donated 807 text books worth K3 million to Ngodzi Primary School in Salima District.

It was made possible with funding from Hilal Afrika, a Germany-based charity organisation that provides support in education and sanitation projects.

Hilal Afrika Country Director, Abdulrazaaq Telela, said they were committed to promote education in the country.

“Our aim is to provide conducive teaching and learning environment for rural schools. Students and teachers in rural areas are facing a lot of challenges. Having realised the crucial part which books play in education sector, we are happy to render support and this is not our first time to respond to such initiative,” he said.

Ngodzi Primary School Head-teacher, Jean Zinganyama, said textbooks are essentially to guide the teaching and learning of the curriculum.

“It’s a big motivation to us teachers and learners. Textbooks play a fundamental role in supplementing knowledge deficits. Teaching or learning without adequate books is very challenging and it hinders the future of many children,” she said.

Ngodzi Primary School has a total of 2,367 learners and 21 teachers.
