The winner of this year’s E-Wallet Talent Show formerly Sunbird Search for a Star will walk away with a Nissan Tiida hatchback worth K3 million.

E-Wallet Talent Show Coordinator Anthony Kafuwa confirmed the development yesterday saying they decided to dangle a car this year to coax more people to participate in the competition.

“We have come a long way, we have met challenges and we have received criticism which we have taken and improved on the way. Last year the winner went away with K500,000 and this year we decided to put up a car as a top prize so as to bring more participants on board,” he said.

Kafuwa said they have invested heavily in the top prize adding that they want to attract good singers. “We are growing and our target is to make E-Wallet Talent Show an international brand. So the picture output this year will also be excellent as we want to explore the international market,” he said.

Having been beaming the talent show on MBC TV in the past years, Kafuwa said they have widened their net and will this year also screen the show on Times TV and Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

“We want every Malawian to watch and follow the show so this is why we have involved the other TV stations as well,” said Kafuwa.

He said the talent show will start on October 25 and that the auditions will start on September 16 at Grand Palace in Mzuzu before moving to Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe on September

18 and then Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre on September 20. He said they are thankful to Sunbird Tourism for being the main sponsor in the past two years. “Sunbird Tourism will always be our partners and although they are not on board this year in terms of sponsorship we are still in a

strong relationship and you will notice that we are holding the auditions in their hotels,” said Kafuwa.

He said through the platform they will continue to help unearth talent in the country. Last year the event was won by McLuther Mambala who pocketed K500,000.
