Popular dance competition Ka Jive, driven by Times Group through Times Television, is back with Season Five.
The competition, with its tagline Tivine Zimenezi—which has given a platform to the youth to show their dance skills and also unearthed dance groups— kicks off next month.
Times Group Advertising Manager – Radio and Television Alfred Kanjere said yesterday they were ready for Season Five and that registration is in progress.
“We have had consultations with stakeholders who have followed the competition and now we are reeling to go with Season Five. We just want to call upon companies, non-governmental organisations and well-wishers to come forward and partner us in the competition,” Kanjere said.
He said over the four seasons they have hosted the dance competition, it has proved vital especially in displaying talent from the youth and that those who want to reach out to the younger generation, “this is the stage”.
“Those who want to reach out to the youth and connect with them, then this is where they can invest their resources and partner us. This is also a platform where players interested in the youth can disseminate various key messages on issues such as education, health and entrepreneurship,” Kanjere said.
He then called on dance groups to participate in Season Five and that registration will close on October 25.
“In all the seasons, the participation has been overwhelming and we hope to get the same in Season Five. As Times Group, through Times Television, Radio and other outlets, we have always strived to help the country in uplifting the creative sector and Ka Jive is one of them,” Kanjere said.
Several dance groups that are being utilised by stakeholders in their services have passed through Ka Jive Dance competition.
Soweto Boys from Blantyre won Ka Jive Season Four and pocketed K1 million. The first and second runners-up were Luchenza and Abantu crews respectively
