The Ka Jive Dance competition spearheaded by Times Group through Times Television is back.
The competition which has helped unearth dancing talent will start on November 19.
Times Group Chief Commercial Manager, Dumisani Ngulube, confirmed the development yesterday saying that the dance competition is back, bigger and better and that people should expect nothing but the best.
“Ka Jive Dance competition is back. Everything is in its right place and we will start the auditions. At the moment we are just putting together forms for people to come and collect to participate otherwise we are ready,” Ngulube said.
This will be season III of the competition which last year was won by Blantyre-based Twist Dance Crew during the grand finale held at Robins Park.
Twist Dance Crew pocketed K1.5 million as winners.
The first season was won by Metics Dance Crew which went away with K1 million.
The Ka Jive Dance competition runs under the slogan Tivine Zimenezi.
Ngulube said people have enjoyed the competition since it started and that they were looking forward to another exciting outing and called on those who have the talent to come forward and register.
“Those who would like to participate need to come forward. We want to have the best once again. As Times Group we want through this platform to help uplift the creative industry in the country”, he said.
Ngulube said the competition among others, is aimed at giving a platform to people to showcase their talents as well as show that they can create a unique dance for the country.
“The past two seasons we have seen amazing talent and we want this to continue in season III. This country has talent and as Times Group we will always offer the platform,” he said.
Ngulube said they were happy with the achievements through Ka Jive Dance competition in that the corporate world among others were utilising the talent of some of the products of the competition.
Last year’s finalists Salama Africa Dance Crew from Dzaleka Refugee Camp is one of the groups which is currently being used by different companies.
Floor Steppers, Metics Dance Crew and Twist recently performed at the Coca-Cola Kuphaka Life in Blantyre.
Ngulube said they will come up with more details later adding that as usual, people were in for more twists and turns in the competition.
Last year Airtel Malawi partnered Times Group in the competition.
Apart from Ka Jive contest, Times Group through Times Television has also partnered Lens Arts in holding the University of Malawi (Unima) Got Talent which has graduated from the Chanco Got Talent.
