South Africa giants Kaizer Chiefs are considering a move for Bloemfontein Celtic Malawian striker Gabadihno Mhango ahead of next season.
The former Big Bullets striker has a year left on his contract but has endured a difficult campaign this season, scoring only four goals in the Absa Premiership.
One of the South African reputable soccer publications, Soccer Laduma, reported this week that Mhango is one of Chiefs transfer targets next season.
“The Amakhosi have already clinched this year’s Absa Premiership, setting a new points record while doing it, however, their success has been built on their defence and not their attack. Now, as the club looks to bulk up their striking force, it is thought Mhango, 22, had made his way onto their potential list of targets,” reported Soccer Laduma.
“It seems they still want to beef up their attack and Mhango is on their (Chiefs’) shopping list. They really want him, but it will all depend on whether Celtic are ready to sell him or not,”
So far Gaba has scored four goals for Celtic in the Absa Premiership but last year he was one of the Golden Boot Award contenders having scored eight just two shy of winner Bernard Parker.
He was Celtic top goal scorer and was also voted players’ player of the season.
Gaba has 14 goals in 38 games since moving to South Africa in 2013.
