TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets have given coach Kalisto Pasuwa the freedom to choose his backroom staff before the start of next season.
The development comes amid reports that there was a strained relationship between some members of the technical panel towards the close of the just-ended season.
This makes it likely that some of the members may not return after the expiry of their contracts towards the end of the year.
Bullets Chief Executive Officer Suzgo Nyirenda said Pasuwa will have the final say on the composition of his backroom staff for next season.
“He will make a decision on the backroom staff. This has been the case in the past two years. As head coach, Pasuwa makes recommendations on his backroom staff,” Nyirenda said.
Pasuwa has Peter Mponda, Heston Munthali and Fischer Kondowe as his assistants.
Bullets have offered the Zimbabwean a one-year contract which he is yet to sign.
Pasuwa also has Swadick Sanudi as his goalkeeper trainer and James Chilapondwa as team manager.
Sanudi plays the same role in the Malawi National Football Team technical panel.
However, football analyst George Kaudza-Masina said Bullets are only using the former Zimbabwe National Football Team coach to develop their former players.
“If Pasuwa is given the chance to choose his own backroom staff, he might not even include some of the technical panel members. Bullets are just using him to build capacity in their former players so that they take over as coaches one day,” Kaudza-Masina said.
