Kamoza Longwe wins amateur SeedCo golf tourney

Youngster Kamoza Longwe shone like a beacon as he emerged the winner of 2022 SeedCo Malawi Open golf championship for amateur category at Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.
Kamoza played some good rounds of golf throughout the tournament, which was played immediately after the professional category.
At the end of three days, Kamoza won the tournament with a gross of 227 whereas Folindo Rodrick came second with 239 gross.
Peter Lumbe came third with 239 gross.
In his victory speech, Longwe said the competition was stiff this year.
“I prepared well for the tournament. It is a pleasure to see my hard work paying off,” Longwe said.
In the ladies’ category, Thoko Gaffer emerged the champion followed by Zittar Banda on second and Esther Wemba on third.
Shepherd Tembo won the seniors category whereas Lester Tandwe came second.
George Mbisa won in the corporate category whereas Alfred Chitulu was on position two.
Thomas Chafunya won the A Division whereas William Chimpeni emerged champion in the B Division.
The winners got prizes. SeedCo Malawi Managing Director Boyd Luwe said the tournament was a success.
“We are very excited that this has been a huge success. We have invested a lot of money, about K80 million, in this competition. We will come back stronger and in a bigger way next year,” Luwe said.
Over 300 golfers took part in the SeedCo Open golf championship for amateur category.
SeedCo also sponsored the 2022 Malawi Open Golf championship for professional golfers.
The tournament attracted 40 golfers from Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia and Ghana. Zimbabwean golfer Visitor Maphwanya won the tournament whereas his compatriot Robson Chihnoi came second.
