Kamuzu Barracks are back—coach
Kamuzu Barracks (KB) Coach, Billy Phambala, has said their 3-1 victory over Red Lions on Saturday should serve as a warning to all teams that the TNM Super League champions are on track to defend the title.
“This is a warning to all teams that the champions are back in town. We started the season poorly but, slowly, the team is taking shape,” Phambala said.
Phambala, who won KB their first Super League title last year, also heaped praises on two-goal hero Joel Chipofya’s wonderful performance.
“He is one of the experienced players in the team and he really showed his quality. It will be good if he maintains the form. He just needs more time to be fully fit because, last year, he was not playing active football. I am confident that he would score more goals this season,” Phambala said.
Chipofya was part of Be Forward Wanderers’ Super League winning squad of 2006.
Gift M’bwana also scored for KB during the match at Civo Stadium before Innocent Bokosi netted a face-saver for the visitors.
Last season, KB also made a poor start to the season but bounced back in the second round to win their first-ever title with 61 points.
