TNM Super League defending champions, Kamuzu Barracks (KB) General Secretary, Michael Chamayere, has defended the team’s Billy Phambala-led coaching panel despite a dismal campaign this season.
The soldiers look unlikely to defend the championship having been a shadow of themselves in the first-round, lying on 10th place on the log table with 18 points from 14 games.
Last Saturday, Dwangwa United clobbered KB 3-0 at Chitowe Stadium, but Chamayere refused to pile the pressure on the Phambala-led technical panel.
“Last season, we were on position eight at the end of the first-round but we ended up winning the league title. Let teams underrate us at their own peril because we are still a good side,” he said.
In the second-round last season, KB only lost to Premier Bet Wizards and Nyasa Big Bullets. KB host Wizards at Civo Stadium on Saturday.
Recently, Phambala bemoaned the injuries of top striker Manase Chiyesa and versatile attacker Ben Hojani.
