Tnm Super League defending champions, Kamuzu Barracks (KB) have insisted that there is no need to read too much into their 1-0 loss to Be Forward Wanderers on Saturday.

In the 2017 season’s opener, Wanderers scored in the second-half through Julius Kajembe at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

KB also lost 3-1 to Nyasa Big Bullets in the Chifundo Charity Shield at the same venue two weeks ago.

Last month, KB also lost 1-0 to Wanderers in the Wafawafa Big Four Bonanza at Bingu National Stadium.

But it was the first league defeat for the defending champions since last October when they lost by a similar margin to Premier Bet Wizards at MDC Stadium.

In a post-match reaction, KB Assistant Team Manager, Dick Mtontholo, said they were not worried with the loss.

“Last season, we started in the same way but we managed to win the league [title]. Our ultimate goal is to defend the title. We are not under pressure and we will react in a positive way,” Mtontholo said.

In the 2016 season, KB also started on a low when they lost three consecutive games in four opening games.

But the soldiers showed class to win their first-ever Super League since 1986.

In a post-match interview, Wanderers Coach, Yasin Osman, praised his charges for the win.

KB have beefed up with Nashon Harazi, Ndaona Daisi, Chimwemwe Chisambi and Peter Mpulula.

On the opening day of the season, only two goals were scored in four games, including Patrick Macheso’s strike in Dwangwa United’s 1-0 win over Masters Security FC at Chitowe Stadium on Saturday.

In other games, Chitipa United and Bullets drew 0-0 at Mzuzu Stadium with Wizards and Silver Strikers also registering a similar result at Mulanje Park Stadium.
