Kamuzu Barracks Singers soldiers on
Lilongwe-based Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers continue making strides in gospel music industry as they are set to launch their latest album titled Mulowelelepo Volume 4.
The title track of the album is currently enjoying airplay from most of the local radio stations and has received an overwhelming response.
The eight member group which started in 2002, is made up of soldiers, who apart from serving the nation in the area of security, use their talent to sing for the Lord.
Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers have since released the dates for the launch of their album starting off with Sheaffer ICA in Lilongwe on March 3 before moving to Gymkhana Club in Zomba on April 2 and then Robin’s Park in Blantyre on April 3.
The group will finish off their tour with the last show at Boma Park in Mzuzu on April 10.
Kamuzu Barracks Music Director Chimwemwe Binauli said on Monday that they are happy that after working hard recording the album, it is now time for them to launch it.
“We are excited as a group that everything is ready and this is why we have come up with the dates for the launch. It has been a long journey but praise God everything is in place,” he said.
Binauli said they were looking at nothing but the best during the launch which will be spiced up by several other artists.
The album which features songs with different genres including reggae and rhumba was recorded at One Heart Studio in Blantyre by Lloyd Phiri and Groove Magic Studio in Blantyre by Joseph Tembo.
Apart from ‘Mulowelelepo,’ which is turning into an anthem, the other songs in the album are ‘Ndidzaima,’ ‘Koma Mau,’ ‘Self Container,’ ‘Malamulo,’ ‘You Change My Name,’ ‘Mukhale Nane,’ ‘Kulimbana Nako,’ ‘Mukhale Nane,’ and ‘Dziko Lapansi.’
The group which was voted the Best Gospel Group in the Muma Awards in 2014 performed at Kudya in Blantyre on Saturday spicing the Powerhouse International Service where they shared the stage with another gospel singer Grace Chinga.
Kamuzu Barracks did well with their previous album titled Dzandiwolotseni and Binauli said they are also looking forward to the best with this new album.
